Welcome to our newest aspect of Windward Kennels online! We will be posting each week to keep you all informed on our progress and to let you know how life in Alaska is going!
This week has been an interesting one, including a stomach virus, a chimney fire, snowstorms and dog breeding!
The RED SOX won the World Series, and the PATRIOTS destroyed Washington. After watching these two brutal victories, Matt and I headed home to feed the dogs, celebrate victory and warm up after a 10 mile 4-wheeler ride. We got the stove roaring and let it go to warm up. By the time we noticed the sparks and fire shooting out of the chimney, we were at the point of no return. We could do nothing but hope the house didn't go up in flames! We emptied all of our possessions out into the snow, and waited to see what would happen. The house stood!
The very next day we both woke up with a severe stomach flu, and were down for the count. We did manage to train dogs a bit, but we have become much more productive towards the end of the week. The dogs are running wonderfully, and we are almost able to run with sleds instead of the noisy 4-wheeler.
This week we are planning to go to Anchorage, and are working on building our new sleds! We are also expecting a litter of puppies from Snoopy around the 9th or so! It's going to be a great week!
